Don’t Make These Mistakes at Your Job Interview

When you are invited to interview for a position there are some mistakes you need to avoid, that stand out in the minds of potential employers.  

A survey conducted by a staffing and consulting firm based in California which corresponded with 1,400 chief financial officers showed that candidates for employment made most of their mistakes at interview.

Some of the mistakes applicants made include:

• arriving late  
• having little knowledge about the company and the position applied for  
• displaying a superiority complex and 
• behaving arrogantly.

Don’t make these mistakes when you are interviewed.  

On the other hand there are some tips you should bear in mind:

• Your body language as an applicant must demonstrate that you are confident yet not overpowering. 
• You should maintain eye contact, have a strong handshake, and avoid looking defensive by crossing your arms.

Wearing the right clothes is crucial for projecting a confident stance. And remember, it is better to go to an interview over-dressed than being under-dressed.
